This bright, colourful world strikes me as at odds with a horror game. This does bring me to another question mark over what the game is trying to achieve. HN2 bills itself as a horror stealth game and at the same time “family friendly horror”. The world evokes an aesthetic not unlike a Pixar (or similar) animated movie. The game world of Hello Neighbor 2 is an eye catching one with bright, bold colours and strong visual design. Like I say, a minor issue but still a slight concern. There was one key upstairs in the first house that was inside a cupboard drawer which I found really tricky to pick up. They feel like they were designed with mouse and keyboard in mind – fine for the Windows release admittedly but this was on PlayStation! They felt quite clunky in places and not really as accurate as you probably would hope for. This brings me to my first minor gripe about the game – the controls. You can’t carry a lot of items so you will be using this a lot! The player also becomes familiar with the fairly straightforward control system. We start off in the tutorial area which introduces the key mechanics of the game including item manipulation and inventory management. The only first person puzzle game I have played recently is The Turing Test which is a very different beast to HN2. Again, like the franchise itself, this is a game genre I’m not particularly familiar with. HN2 is a first person puzzle game, with elements of stealth and horror. After a close escape we find ourselves inside a barn which we have crashed into and serves as a tutorial area. He notices our character and rushes towards us brandishing a shovel. The game kicks off with a cut scene where we see the titular neighbour attack, apparently intending to abduct, a child. When I told her she said she’d seen videos of it – Pure Dead Craig tells me his children had exactly the same reaction! In addition to the games the franchise has apparently become huge on YouTube – while I was playing the game for this review my 12 year old daughter came into the room and enquired as to what I was playing. I have never played the first game so have no frame of reference when reviewing this new release. Hello Neighbor 2 (HN2) is a sequel to the original Hello Neighbor released in 2018 – it was a first person stealth puzzle game, a gameplay approach which this follow up reprises. If you have someone on the pump, you're still going to sink, but it's going to take a little while longer. Hypothetically speaking, if your ship just has one hole and you do nothing about it, you're going to sink. The pump will help to counteract the water you are taking from the holes, so it will extend your life, but not indefinitely. If you have a large crew, have someone on the pumps while the rest of the team patches the holes. It's important to focus on fixing the holes before you man the pump as you can still sink while pumping. You can see if your ship has any holes by looking at the top middle of your screen. If your ship gets hit with a cannon, or gets rammed by another ship, it will take on holes. People that can hear you will see your name appear in white. Allies names will appear in green and enemies will appear in red.Īs mentioned earlier, you can use the F key for proximity voip. People that speak through faction chat will have their name in purple above their ships name. The B key is for speaking with members of the same faction. If you are a shipsman, your name will appear in blue. If you are the captain, your name will appear in gold when you speak. If you are using the V key, only your shipmates will be able to hear you. If you don't have a microphone you can use Y to type in global chat or U to type to shipmates. Only use proximity if you are trying to talk to an enemy crew that you are boarding or antagonizing. Stick with V for your crew and B for your faction if you need to talk to other captains or players not on your ship. You can't hear what other people are saying at all unless they are standing directly next to you. Many people tend to use F, which is proximity voip, and the sound quality is terrible you can't hear people on the other side of your ship. It's best to use your V key to talk through your microphone for shipwide/squad talk. What people think about taking notes in Evernote: You won’t get task statuses, no way to track progress, no workload management.Ĭlearly, you’ll still have to transfer them to your task management tool. However, as an existing Evernote user, if you plan to spend $14.99/user per month, don’t expect to manage tasks effectively. Unless you upgrade to the Business plan, you can’t use it to assign or track tasks. You can create basic checklists, but that’s all! You know how, sometimes, those AI image generators create a Hieronymous Bosch visual of horrors based on a few innocuous prompts? That’s what Maui Burst taste likes. Maui Burst (pineapple) – Dollar General Exclusive. Also, “Mtn” isn’t even how you abbreviate the word “mountain.” It is an egalitarian system of suckiness, wherein even the best variant of Mtn Dew is still just Mtn Dew. They are almost all equally bad, and half of them are the same drink. I have listed the flavors in no particular order because there is no ranking system here. The focus groups for these products consisted of a cardboard cut out of Randy “Macho-Man” Savage and a beer koozie that says “Don’t Blame Me, I Voted For Titties”. What followed was a journey deep into beverage purgatory, a strange sort of limbo where things taste like nothing but sugar, occasionally like bubble gum, and invariably like defeat. My husband takes a sip and realizes: he has never tried Mtn Dew. I try to understand what would propel someone to buy a stale, questionably-stored bottle of Mtn Dew from eBay. Other fans weigh in, inquiring where to purchase rarer bottles. Meticulously arranged, some have been custom made, because the beverages in question are only available in fountain drinks. I stare at a picture taken in someone’s wood paneled basement, in a subreddit specifically for Mtn Dew enthusiasts (because the internet, for all its faults, has guaranteed us this: no matter how esoteric our passions, we need never feel alone). Fans of the drink post photos of their collections online, bottles and cans in a Lisa Frank array of hues. Mtn Dew has a following so devoted it makes Catholicism seem like a casual hobby. What I’m saying is that this project has ruined me. If someone can name more than three flavors of Mtn Dew off the top of their head, they probably aren’t fit to live in society. You are probably saying to yourself, “I did not know so many flavors of Mtn Dew existed.” That is a reasonable response. What is going on with the fish? Is that a fish?Īnd so, I hunted down 21 flavors of Mountain Dew, or Mtn Dew, as it was recently and unnecessarily rebranded. I can only assume Kavanaugh is somewhat responsible. I’m not normally compelled to drink Mountain Dew Overdrive, which professes to have “a bold, charged citrus punch” flavor, and has a bear that looks like it’s an anti-vaxxer on the label. Wade? Sometimes, you need to be reminded that your body is still yours, and that you can do with it what you want, no matter what anyone else says. I’ve tried to find the logic in my actions, and as best I can tell, it’s this: sometimes, the world becomes a dark place, and you desperately need a distraction from all of it. Why am I voluntarily drinking a beverage whose ad campaigns seem to vaguely suggest sexual violence? Why am I forcing my kidneys to undergo the aging technique used in that Benjamin Button movie to make Brad Pitt look like a testicle? Why am I doing this twenty-one times?
